Original, mixed media and acrylic on a wrapped canvas, ready to hang.

This whimsical painting of a Heron was inspired by a recent backyard visitor we had at our koi pond here in Flagstaff, Arizona. I woke up super early one morning before the sun was up and saw this huge lovely creature through the kitchen window. She was trying to see if she could possibly have one of our fish! I put down my coffee and ran out the back door to see if I could chase her off. She was quite fierce and defiant. And she was so much bigger than I expected once I got outside. She eventually flew over to the roof top of our neighbor’s barn and spent the morning watching our pond and then she finally gave up and headed home, wherever that is.
